How Your Walls Might Affect Your House Painting Project

Ottawa Painters Share Tips For Painting Common Wall Materials

Painting is often an affordable way to refresh your home. If you’ve fallen out of love with the colours on your walls it’s time for a change! Once you’ve found the perfect paint colour, you may think that you’re ready to paint, but it’s important to know what your walls are made of. This often overlooked factor can have a profound effect on the success of your project. Here, Ottawa painters provide some useful tips for painting any wall:

Wallpaper

Wallpaper is one of the most difficult materials to paint over. You essentially have two options: paint over it, or remove it. If you attempt to paint over the wallpaper, keep in mind that the texture, design, and seams of the paper may show through the paint. This makes it difficult to cover properly, and even harder to remove if you ever plan to do so. We recommend you take the time to remove the paper, after which you can prime and paint the walls of your Ottawa home.

New Drywall

Many major home renovations involve putting up new drywall. Painting this material is not the same as covering up old paint. Once the wall is mudded and tapped you’ll need to sand down any imperfections and clean the walls. Then you’re ready for primer on the walls. Primer offers a neutral backdrop for the paint, covers up the mud spots, and gives the paint something to stick to. It often takes two or three coats of primer depending on the drywall. After the primer is dry your drywall is ready to paint!

Gloss and Satin Paint

Gloss and satin paint have a distinct shine to them, so covering them up takes a couple of extra steps. First you’ll need to rough up the gloss so the new pain can stick to the walls. This can be done by sanding the wall or applying de-glosser with a paint brush. If you decide to sand the walls, there’s no need to sand down to the bare wall, you’re just adding texture for the paint to stick to. It’s also important to know if the paint contains lead or other toxins; you can consult an Ottawa painter if you’re not sure. Once the gloss is removed, you can clean the walls and paint!

Flat Paint

Flat paint is fairly simple to cover. You can repair, sand, and clear any areas that need to be fixed including holes, cracks, and paint drips, and wash the walls. Then you can paint right over it! That’s why many new home builders choose flat paint for homes in Ottawa.

As you can see, walls covered in wallpaper, new drywall, and high gloss paints will require additional preparation before you paint. If you need assistance, no matter what you’re painting over, contact Ottawa painters today.

Preparing Your House for Painting

A Residential Painting Company Provides Valuable Advice

It doesn’t feel like it yet, but spring isn’t that far off now—and likely, your house’s exterior has taken a beating in the winter weather. In fact, now that you think about it, your interior is looking a little dull too. You can inject some life and rejuvenate your home this spring with a fresh spell of house painting, but before you begin, you should know how to prepare. Whether you’re taking on the project yourself or calling a residential painting company, the right preparations can make the whole project go so much more smoothly.

Preparing for Interior Painting

Whether it’s your whole house or just a single room, a new colour or a fresh coat can breathe new life into your living spaces. Once you’ve picked out a colour, the first thing you should do is remove the furniture. Simply covering it won’t do you any good, since it can still become an obstacle. Basically, if it’s not nailed to the floor, take it elsewhere. Wall hangings, light fixtures, outlet covers, switch plates, plants, and more should all also be removed. Once the room is as empty as you can get it and the walls are bare, the next step is to wash them—after all, dirt, grease, and other impurities can prevent you from getting a smooth, even result from your house painting project. After cleaning the walls with warm water and a mild detergent, tape up the lines that need to be taped, and put down sheets to cover the floors. If you’re using professional painters, they’ll take care of these last two steps themselves, but you can help them out big time by clearing out the room and cleaning it.

Preparing for Exterior Painting

As important as cleaning your interior before painting is, cleaning your exterior is even more so! That’s because it’s constantly exposed to the elements, so even if it looks clean, clean it anyway. Your exterior will have more nooks and crannies where dirt can get in and hide, so be sure to pay attention to the little details. Before you call a residential painting company for assistance, check to see that all the putty and caulking is in good shape, and that all your gutters, eaves, and downspouts are clean. If you discover any damage to the exterior of your home, have it repaired before you begin painting.

Whether revitalising your home’s exterior or adding a splash of colour to the interior, house painting can make your home feel as good as new. If you’re ready to begin, call your local residential painting company today!

Concrete Paint

Lifting and peeling paint from epoxy coverings, coatings and seals are too often the end product of efforts to dress up a garage, shop or basement. A lifting and peeling problem is worse than having no finish at all. The eyesore of blisters, peeling, and chipping of a floor gone wrong is testimonial to a failure in preparation. Fortunately, after 40 years of development technology in flooring, one should no longer rely on raw materials like muriatic acid (Hydrochloric) to clean and prep your floor. Applicators now realize that an "acid etch" using a simple raw muriatic acid is no cure all. Integrated systems for preparing concrete properly can now avoid disasters that leave garages looking worse than before they were coated.

Preparation is everything when applying finishes. You can only expect a surface to stay in place if its substrate is permanent. Obviously, if the substrate crumbles or moves, your surface will move with it. Today, after 40 years of application experience, flooring experts have developed application preparation procedures that help minimize the risk of substrates moving. New floors are especially vulnerable and require extensive preparation. New concrete is dusty for the first few years while the latents of concrete on the surface are kicked, walked, or driven off. Those latents must be removed before quality epoxy topcoats are applied or the topcoats will move with the latents as they break free from the substrate.

Blasting away part of your floor often leaves corn rows cut into the floor due to over lap, and will need to be filed. Blasting often just brings you down to a new level of contamination. It is often better to clean 100% of the surface using chemicals that are designed to work together in an integrated system to assure a clean, solid surface. When you wash your clothing your detergent uses a change in pH to help release soils. Water softeners and rinse agents are blended into laundry detergents, dish shops and even shampoos to assist the pH change in releasing soils and contaminants.

Cleaning first with a high pH or alkaline degreaser attacks oil and grease contaminants while moving the floor pH higher. Next slamming your dirty surface with a low pH acidic cleaner attacks minerals, rust and other particles, makes your pH jump 10 points or better to shock contaminants loose from substrates. The acidic cleaner should have detergents, rinse agents and water softeners blended into it so you know that it is formulated to do the best job possible. It is vitally important to bring your pH back to normal 6. 5 or 7 pH after cleaning, with a scrub rinse. Have you ever run your finger across your car after pressure washing only to find it still has a thin layer of road film on it? Surface tension holds even high pressure from penetrating many films. You need to break the surface tension with contact during all three steps of cleaning. The more aggressive the contact the better for removing concrete latents, small particles of concrete that are ready to break of to become that endless dust coming off unquoted concrete floors.

Rotary scrubbers, similar to what a school custodian utilizes, can be fitted with stiff bristle brushes using carbide chips imbedded in flexible nylon bristles to scrub your floor. The bristles dive into mall pours, cracks, and holes to help strip away fragile cement particles that are softer than the exposed carbide chips. These scrubbers should be used for your alkaline cleaning, your acidic cleaning, and for your final rinse cleaning. Scrub rinsing stops the chemical action of your cleaners and provides a liquid medium to bring your floor pH back to neutral and flush contaminants and residual detergents away. Once dry (1 to 4 hours) you are ready for your coating, paint, epoxy or seal.

Epoxy flooring is weather-resistant, and unharmed by rain, snow, oil, and flooding. This resistance is due to the fact that epoxy coatings, unlike paints, come in two parts. When mixed, a catalyzing process changes these two parts from a liquid to a permanent solid. In contrast, paints are carried in water or solvent bases that evaporate to leave the finish. If you reintroduce one of those carriers to the surface, the paint often is able to re-dissolve back into a liquid state.

Even though painted garage finishes are formulated to resist dissolving into their carriers, under stress they can be susceptible to blistering, peeling, and chipping. But water and most solvents have no effect on sealed epoxy surfaces. Epoxy flooring goes on at the job site and requires no seams, creating a continuous membrane that seals what is above from what is below. These epoxy surfaces have been used in food processing plants for over 50 years now. Mold, mildew and other contaminants cannot penetrate the epoxy membrane, and wash off easily.

One should not rely on retail store clerks to help with a floor that will be used for 10 to 20 years. Factory-direct kits of materials including step-by-step instructions and a 24/7 help line are now available online. With these resources, anyone can put a quality floor down in their garage that will last for decades. Like a car finish, you may get some scratches and marks, but also like a car finish, a little touching up can keep those finishes looking great for decades.
Durall Industrial Flooring offers no-cost, no-obligation quotes for its fully customized kits of materials, including all preparation materials and procedures, for installing industrial quality epoxy or urethane coatings at www. concrete-floor-coatings. com. These beautifully sealed and easy-to-maintain floors come in over 20 colors. The floor finish can be gloss, flat, or satin and may be easily accented with decorative chips. Additionally, the floors may be skid-resistant like emery paper, yet still be easy to sweep or squeegee.

4 Ways to Generate Leads for Painters Using Social Media

blogging After a long, hard day’s painting and decorating, hitting your marketing hard is not always the first thing painters are keen to do. But if you’re striving to keep the work flowing or to expand your business, taking some time out of your working week to promote what you do is essential. You may already have the traditional resources at your fingertips. If you’ve been proactive, chances are you already have business cards, a website and plenty of listings on trades directories.

So what more can you do?

Free to set up and operate (at least until you start using paid advertising options), social media is a low-maintenance way to undertake some potentially beneficial marketing – especially if you’re focussed on a particular local area. By connecting with people who are interested in your profession, plus people and businesses in your area, you can constantly generate exposure for your business with just a little input – opening the doors to all sorts of opportunities and making your business more searchable online.

To help you get started, we’ve put together a few easy ideas that painters and decorators can apply to their chosen social media platforms to generate leads…

 Get social, locally

Click to Learn More!

Click to Learn More!

The name of the game in social media isn’t to bombard your friends and followers with constant promotional messages. If you have a Facebook or Twitter presence, it’s much more important to engage in conversations about common interests.

For painters with a local hub, connecting with local news and groups is a great way to get your name out there. Social media isn’t about instant leads, it’s about the slow burn. You want to be the company somebody thinks of when they see someone else asking for painter and decorator recommendations.

From supporting local causes, to linking to other local businesses – start connecting locally to help make this happen. Don’t forget to use geographical hashtags (e.g. #Cardiff #SouthWales) to help people connect with you in turn.

Be interesting – or be useful

Social media is about entertainment. You want to build the biggest, most relevant possible following, which means your output needs to include the kind of things people want to see in their feeds. From retweeting funny local news, to sharing images of your best work (more on this later!) make sure you’re capturing your audience’s interest, not annoying your followers with boring posts about undercoat.

 Incentivize Followers

Once you’ve grabbed the attention of followers and started building a sizable local following, it’s time to cash in all of your tweeting and messaging. While your feed should not be 100% promotional, the occasional promotional message (perhaps once a week depending on how frequently you post other content – a 1:10 ratio is about right) is a good way to encourage readers to “act now” and enquire about your services. Offer followers a discount code that they can redeem “this week only” to help push enquiries – or offer discounts/rewards if they refer a friend.

 Be Visual

pinterest

Ryan Amato Painting

As a painter and decorator you have a great opportunity to generate fresh visual content regularly which you can use to build your social media presence. Instagram and Pinterest are both perfect for publishing visual content, particularly if you’re savvy about the tags you use to help interested people find your photos. Twitter and Facebook are also getting good at sharing imagery which grabs attention – so always use eye-catching images if you can.

Everyone loves to see transformations – why not invest in a decent camera and take some time to put together great “before and after” images? Working on something unusual or especially visually impactful? Don’t forget to take a photograph to help you promote your business online.

Don’t forget, social media doesn’t have to eat heavily into your time. Tools like Hootsuite are perfect for scheduling posts, so you can have an active social presence all month, while barely lifting a finger. Don’t forget to take five minutes every now and again to directly connect with others in your area and your industry, however. Organic connections are a great way to grow your reputation and get your name out there.

Looking for Leads? Venture into Video!

Video marketing can bring in new leads to help you build your business.

video marketingLike most contractors, you probably have tools that you can count on for just about every job, but there’s always room to add new tools to your marketing toolbox. Email, print advertising and social media marketing are all reliable tactics, but there’s a marketing tools that is inexpensive, easy-to-use, and creates a huge impact – video marketing! When used effectively, video marketing could generate a wealth of new leads for your business.

Chances are, you’ve watched at least one marketing video – According to a recent study by Three Motion, 78 percent of people online have viewed at least one video per week, and 55 percent have viewed at least one video per day! Whether they’re watching for information or for entertainment, you have the potential to reach a huge audience with a relatively small budget. I emphasize the word “potential” because your video probably isn’t going to go viral. But it will be viewed by potential leads who are interested in your product or service. This is an audience that is already tuned in to your message, so turning them into marketing leads could be easier than you think.

But where do you start? Start with the Internet. You’ll find several excellent resources with detailed information on creating marketing videos; but it will require some research on your part. Then incorporate what you’ve learned with these guidelines, and you’ll soon be creating videos that connect with customers and generate leads.

First, define your audience.

Who are you trying to reach with this video? New customers? Current customers? A particular type of customer? You need to zero in on who you want to reach, then tailor your message for that target audience. For example, say you want to target new residential customers. You’re going to have a much less technical type of video than if you want to connect with contractors. Don’t skip this critical step – it will make choosing your topic and writing your script much easier and your final product will be much more impactful.

Then determine your goal.

What do you want this video to do? Of course, you ultimately want it to bring in new business. But first, you have to find and address your audience’s needs.

Marketing strategists like to talk about “pain points.” Simply put, pain points are problems – problems for which people or businesses need solutions. Often, they look to the Internet for answers. Say, for example, someone doesn’t know how to prepare varnished wood for painting, they’ll most likely do a Google search. There, they might run across your how-to video on that subject, but after watching it, they decide that it’s a bigger job than they want to tackle. So they contact you. Pain point solved and new customer gained!

Your audience can help you determine your goals. Their needs – their pain points – can be a gold mine for video topics. Ask friends, colleagues, and even current customers for ideas on what they’d like to see.

Develop the script.

video marketingDon’t just “wing it.” Your marketing video doesn’t need to be perfect, but it does need to be professional, and that starts with a script. The optimum length for a marketing video is about 2 minutes, and the average number of words per minute is 150. So you only have 300 words (plus or minus a few) to get your message across, along with a strong call-to-action.

Here are a few handy tips:

  • Repurpose a topic (maybe a blog or a presentation) that you’ve already created and turn it into a video.
  • Keep your content balanced – think 90% educational and informative and 10% promotional.
  • Look for topics that generate great visual content
  • Add a testimonial or two, if you can.
  • Practice, practice, practice – but keep it natural.
  • ALWAYS add a strong call-to-action instructing the audience on how they can contact you.

Film & edit it.

 event with a video camera

If your budget allows, you can have an outside professional film and edit your video. However, current technology has made creating your marketing video a fairly easy, do-it-yourself job. If you decide to go the DIY route, you probably already have most, if not all, of the tools you’ll need – a webcam, smartphone, or digital camera with video capabilities, etc. You’ll also be relying on your computer for additional tips and strategies. We’ve compiled a few of our favorites to help you get started:

  • If you’re using your smartphone, film it in landscape mode, which makes for the best viewing on widescreen devices.
  • Use a tripod with an inexpensive adapter.
  • Avoid the zoom – getting a close-up digitally means a lower quality pic.
  • Use natural light if possible. The light from smartphones tends to be harsh. If you need additional lighting, look no further than your van or truck – you can put together a great lighting system using nothing more than the portable job lights you already have.
  • Use a computer for editing. Yes, many smartphones have video editing capabilities, but you won’t get the same professional-looking results you would get from video editing software like Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere.

Now get your message out there.

Once your marketing video is ready to go, you have a number of ways to maximize the number of views it receives. If you have a website – and if you don’t, you should – add a page for your videos. Create a YouTube account and upload all your videos to it, so viewers can tap into your archives at any time. Post videos on your social media networks with an occasional reminder to watch it. Add it to your blog site, then add a link to it in an email. Don’t think of video marketing as a one-and-done effort. Promote it through multiple marketing channels for best results.

Videos are can be an inexpensive, but effective tool for reaching customers and generating leads. Make sure there’s a place for them in your marketing toolbox.

8 Questions To Ask When Getting A New Website & Price Ranges

New Website Design QuestionsIn the article, I am going to cover several important questions when it comes to getting a new website such as basic questions you should ask and explaining the different price ranges.

First, we’ll cover the basic questions of your new website. Here’s a list of questions you should always ask:

  1. Will I ever own my website?
  2. How do changes work? Do I have to make them or pay you to make them?
  3. Will it be responsive across all devices? (Desktop, Laptop, Tablet & Cell Phones)
  4. Will it be in a CMS system such as WordPress?
  5. Will you be creating my website from scratch or buying a template?
  6. Will SEO be included?
  7. Can you briefly explain what SEO work will be done on and off my website?
  8. When will my site be completed?

Now that I have a basic list of questions laid out, I’ll touch on each of the points briefly.

Will I ever own my website?

If you’re purchasing a website, you should always own it after it’s paid for. Normally, after your contract is up, any changes you may have will not be covered and you will be paying an hourly rate or flat fee to make the changes you want. Some companies give you a website for a few hundred a month, but at the end of the contract, they take the site down because you were just “renting” it. Make sure you own your website after it’s paid for.

How do changes work?

With most companies, you pay a monthly fee and that will cover changes until the monthly payments stop. After that, you’ll pay a hourly fee or flat fee for changes. If your website is made with a CMS, such as WordPress, it makes it easier for you to maintain it after it’s yours. If you’re paying for it all at once and will have to maintain it after, WordPress is normally the way to go. Keep in mind, however, that most WordPress sites are just a purchased template and images/text thrown together. While this can look okay sometimes, keep in mind that you get what you pay for.

Will it be responsive across all devices?

Whenever you get a new website these days, it absolutely needs to be responsive. With Google taking into effect if your website is responsive, there is no reason it shouldn’t be. In this day and age, everyone has their phone within a hands reach most of the day. They use their phones to search online for things they need, and if they happen to find your website, it can be the difference between getting a call from them or not.

Will it be in a CMS system such as WordPress?

Like the point above, if your website is built using WordPress or another CMS system, most companies will be purchasing a theme which takes out 95% of the coding. All they do is purchase the theme, upload it and then install it. Once it’s installed, they will add pages, pictures and written content. You’ll have to find out who is providing the pictures and content because some companies rely on you. The plugins vary, but they’ll normally install Yoast SEO and a few other plugins depending on what you need.

Will you be creating my website from scratch or buying a template?

If they are buying a template, that takes 80% of the work away. If they’re building you a WordPress website with a purchased theme, you could do most of it if you had enough time. If they are going to purchase a WordPress theme, I wouldn’t bother. You should be getting a custom built website that reflects your business. Any good developer can see if a website was built from a template or not. You shouldn’t pay thousands of dollars on a website that has the design of thousands of other websites.

Will SEO be included?

If Search Engine Optimization (SEO) isn’t included, why are you buying a website? There’s no reason to spend $100 or $10,000 on a billboard in the middle of the desert, so why would you spend money on a website that people won’t be found? Without SEO, your website will never organically be in front of potential customers who are in front of their internet capable device searching for a service that you offer! This should always be a yes. If it costs extra, ask why? A website should always be built optimized for user experience and search engines.

Can you briefly explain what SEO work will be done on and off my website?

You don’t need specific answers when you ask, you just want to make sure they don’t say “umm” or “I’m not sure”. They should mention meta tags, proper headings (h1’s), tagging images for things on your site. For off your site, if they mention link building, make sure you ask how. If they say anything about a program, building profile links, outsourcing, run. Google is smart and sooner or later you’ll be hit with a penalty and you’ll be better off changing your domain completely.

When will my site be completed?

For me, a website takes about 2-3 weeks to complete from start to finish, from scratch. Add an extra week if it’s in WordPress. If it takes them more than a month, ask them why? If they are using a purchased theme, it should take a two weeks tops unless they’re golfing every other day with your money.

Website Pricing Levels

Basic – Up to $2500

For a basic website with minimal SEO, expect to spend up to $2500 for a decent looking website. Normally, these don’t have many pages or any custom functionality. This is a price range for when a company purchases a theme and swaps out information. With a basic website, you’ll end up buying a new one year after year wondering why it’s not bringing in new customers.

Standard – Up to $5000

A standard website comes with decent SEO focused around your primary area, looks nice and has a decent conversion rate. This will almost always come with responsiveness and will last you for 2-5 years, depending on how current the code it was built on. It was built on outdated code, it will be out of date faster. Most companies pay between $3500 and $5000, which if it lasts you 5 years, you can break the cost down to each year to about $1000 a year as an investment. 2-3 decent jobs a year generated from this site over the course of 5 years will easily cover the cost of the website.

Advanced – Up to $10,000

For a typical residential painter that doesn’t need any sort of custom functionality, this will be a top of the line website that was custom created for your business that is responsive across all devices. It’ll be pixel perfect, using the latest up-to-date code and should provide an excellent conversion rate, depending on your area and industry. Like the standard, this level of website will last 5 years or more.

Your website is an investment

Your website is an investment, so try not to think of it as a cost. A professionally built website that is driving new customers to your business will pay you, not cost you. If you receive 3, 5 or 10 new customers each month from your website (that you wouldn’t have generated otherwise), it’ll generate more money for your business and cover its costs.

However, I know there are a lot of residential painters out there that don’t have $2,500 to spend on a website, let alone $5,000 or $10,000. There is another option however; pay per lead. You can learn more about pay per lead from a different blog post I created here.

Conclusion

While the price, quality and amount of time a website can take to build can vary significantly from company to company, the end goal of your website should remain the same: make your business look professional while generating new customers.

What additional questions do you ask when starting a new website?

What’s the deal with Pay Per Lead?

Pay Per Lead
Pay per lead has been around for years, but it’s exploded more recently with the development of Thumbtack and Home Advisor. I offer a pay per lead program that is a cost-effective solution if you want to generate new leads through a free website I build for your business. This way, you don’t spend thousands of dollars on a website and you still generate more business. There are no monthly fees, hidden costs and there is no contract.

In this article, I’ll explain the pros and cons of large lead generation companies and my pay per lead program. We will start with the basics.

What is a lead?

Well, a lead is another word for potential customer. Leads are typically generated through a phone call or contact form submission on your website. If one of your past customers says their friend is interested in hiring you, that new person is a lead.

What is pay per lead?

Pay per lead is exactly what it sounds like. You pay a set amount for each lead you receive.

I will now explain the pros and cons of pay per lead with large companies such as Thumbtack or Home Advisor.

What are the benefits of pay per lead?

  • You only pay when you have a chance to sell your services.
  • You don’t have to spend money on advertising.
  • You don’t have to compete with the big companies with big budgets.
  • You don’t need to have a website.

What are the disadvantages of pay per lead?

  • You’re at the mercy of these large companies.
  • They control the price per lead, and you’re stuck paying it if you want more business.
  • Normally, you aren’t the only one receiving these leads.
  • You have to bid lower than the others to get the job, resulting in less profit.
  • The potential customers knows nothing about your company.

Are using large lead generation companies worth it?

In my opinion, there are more disadvantages of using large pay per lead companies to generate your business. The deciding factor to me is your competition. You and 3-4 other companies who provide the same service as you all purchase the same lead and all make an effort to sell that person. If each company bids $1000 for the job except one company that bids $850, that’ll be the company they choose. The potential customer bases it upon price because they know nothing about any of the companies.

When purchasing leads, you should typically only buy leads if they are exclusive. That means, you are the only company to purchase them. The downside of purchasing exclusive leads is you’ll pay more for it. The large companies charge so little, lets say $7 per lead, because they sell it to 5 companies and make $35 total. You’ll typically have to pay that $35 for that exclusive lead. However, you don’t have to share it with the competition, which makes the job much easier to sell. And, because you’re selling more jobs, your ROI will be much higher.

How can I get exclusive leads?

There are two ways to get exclusive leads. Building a website that uses your domain or creating a new lead generation website focused on your services and area.

Your website can be used to generate exclusive leads. Rather than paying a company to build a new website and you pay a flat fee without knowing if it will generate more business, I can build your company a website for free. You only pay for the leads that it generates.

A lead generation website is a website that is built specifically to generate certain types of leads in a certain area. For instance, if your company only paints the interior of residential homes in a city, I can build a website specifically for that which will rank within search engines (typically listed above your website) and then it will begin generating the leads you are looking for.

Which exclusive lead option is better?

A website I build that’s on your domain. Plain and simple. It’s much faster to start generating leads on a website that I build for your business on your domain for several reasons. It can show off your portfolio, it already had a website previously established and your website is focused on your company. A lead generation website uses a generic business name with no address or company photos, since it’s not an actual business like yours. This is what separates a lead generation website from an actual companies website.

How much do exclusive leads cost?

For me, there is no contract, hidden fees or monthly fees. You simply pay for each new lead generated from the website. The price you pay varies depending on what type of business you are in and the services you offer. You’ll typically pay between $25-$150 for a single lead.

For instance, a full interior painting lead might cost $50 whereas a lead to completely remodel a kitchen may cost $150. However, when you close the job for 50 times or more what the lead costs, it will cover that lead and the next 10. If you are interested in getting the exact pricing per lead for the services your offer, contact me here.

How will you deliver the exclusive leads?

A majority of the time you will receive an email in real-time, immediately after it’s approved. However, we can forward you the calls after their information has been recorded. This allows you to talk directly to the potential customer.

Where can I get more info or how can I get started?

You can contact me or learn more about my pay per lead program here.

Outdoor Living

While Tampa winter days might seem chilly to those that live here, in truth we're extremely blessed to live in one of the warmest climates in the United States. And because Florida gets most of its rain in the summer, the winter months could well be the prhyme ones for enjoying time on your deck.

Getting outside and enjoying the fresh air might be vital to our health and sense of well being. Thanks to a variety of innovative deck heating systems, the outdoors might be a cozier place. What better way to enjoy the end of a day spent doing fall yard-work or walking in the neighborhood, than curling up beside your deck heater and grilling something nice on the barbeque?

For homeowners, creating a truly usable deck space increases the value of your home, almost creating a whole other room in your home, but with far less effort than an actual interior renovation. So what are any of the options for making outdoor living comfortable?

A covered deck has the advantage of never getting wet, and of keeping any heat in. For some, a roof over their deck might take away that open-sky feeling they love, but for others, it is just what they want to keep it cozy. It is a matter of personal choice. Translucent plastic corrugated roof panels might provide the best of both worlds, and are relatively easy to install for a person with carpentry skills.

To keep the deck cozy, think about one of the many options for deck heating. There are several sizes of the lamp-post style of gas heater. Table-top heaters will give you about a 10-foot circumference of heat, although the taller heaters can give off about 20 feet of heat. These might be quite stylish, and an old fashioned design and made of sleek metal. These tend to come with safety features that shut them off completely if they get tilted, so there is no worry of it catching your wooden deck or wicker patio furniture on fire.

Infrared heaters are another option for deck and patio heating. Some are free-standing and any can mount to a wall. While they're a little less stylish than the lamp-post variety, they're surprisingly energy efficient and don't have any burning gas fumes.

If your outdoor space is cement, you may be able to have an outdoor, wood burning fireplace. There area variety of ceramic outdoor stoves. If you are considering this, check local bylaws to find out if wood fires are legal in your area.

With the variety of options available in deck heating and weatherproofing, you should be able to find an affordable and attractive way to make your deck or patio comfortable all year long.

Home Decorating

No matter if you're running a home business or simply need a room in which you can use your computer and catch up on your paperwork, you'll need home office decorating ideas in order to make that important space a pleasant place in which to spend your time. Home office decorating has a very important purpose, which is to make the room functional, and yet still relaxing, so that you are able to do your best work there.

To achieve this, the most important decorating home office tip is to organize yourself. Decorating a home office simply cannot be done among a jumble of papers, pens, and computer accessories. In fact, you should consider the most important home office decorating idea to be removing the clutter so that you will have the room to work.

No matter how big the space may be, decorating the home office begins by using the space to its fullest. You'll need to be able to work properly in the environment, but you'll also need to have easy access to all of the important tools and files that you'll be using all the time. Interior decorating home office discovers the dimensions of your space, and lays out the best possible way to work around them. The furniture will all have to be moved to suit this function.

If you're looking for a home office decorating tip for the furniture, function is what you've been waiting to hear. Certainly, you need the furniture to be appealing, but beauty alone will not help you succeed in your work. Though this home office decorating idea may make you think that function means the sacrifice of fashion, you'll quickly discover that this needn't be true. When you look into the different kinds of office furniture available, you'll discover that there is an awful lot out there that can combine the best of both worlds.

However, if it does come to the point where your home office decorating requires a decision between the more attractive piece and the more functional piece, go with the function; you'll thank yourself in the end.

Home Design

You will spend the vast majority of your life in your home – yes, sure, much of it will be sleeping, but there will also be plenty of times where you just sit and relax, in the evenings and at weekends. With that in mind, don't you need your home to be nice to look at?

It's difficult to underestimate the importance of good home design when it comes to your overall quality of life. Your home should be a place where you can relax, but at the same time get things done that you need to get done. If you're always fighting against your home's design to do simple tasks, it can seriously affect how happy you are with your life overall. More than one couple has broken up only to find that it was not really their partner that was bothering them at all – it was the shabby home they had together.

Most people think that they can design their home perfectly well themselves, but in reality few can. You have to have a very specific idea of what you want, be able to accommodate everyone who lives there, and then actually follow through and get the job done quickly and to a high standard. If you miss one of these things out, then you end up spending years on home improvements, or with a finish you're not happy with, or simply with a compromise design that no-one really wanted.

If you need your home designed properly, you should probably bring in a professional, who will take everyone's needs into account and design an elegant solution to your problems. It can be truly shocking just how much homes improve with a minimal amount of professional design – it's like the difference between an amateur newsletter and a real newspaper, or a landscape garden compared to a random set of plants. The best part is that you only really need to have it done once (at least until you move), meaning that it's a very worthwhile investment that will likely improve not only the quality of your life but also the sale value of your home.

Kitchen Design

The kitchen is the one room where members of a family can be found eating, working, talking on the phone or just hanging out with friends. The kitchen has always been the nerve center of the family, and never has the kitchen remodeling more important than it is today.

As the centerpiece of the home, there are some interesting alternatives for kitchen that go further than the normal. This kitchen guide contains an assortment of kitchen remodeling home options on hand to homeowners as well as recommendation.

Develop safe work practice and stick to them. If you become puzzled, aggravated or in too much of a rush, odds are greater that mistakes that will be made. Read and follow the exact safety rules of mostly all tool and material you will be using. Unplug tools when changing blades.

Wear heavy soled boots on any construction site; rubber soles when working on the roof; gloves while handling lumber; and protective eyewear whenever power tools are in operation. Wear ear protection when using power tools as some operate at levels that can damage hearing. Tie long hair back so as not to catch it by chance in power tools.

Select the suitable tool for the kitchen remodeling job, and keep all tools sharp and in good working state. If an object is too heavy or, get help in moving it; bend from the knees when picking up big and heavy objects. Hard hats are suggested when working under or around overhead construction.

After the demolition phase, there is mostly some preliminary work to be done before you can do your kitchen remodeling. If wide structural, electrical, plumbing, drywall or paneling work is included in your plans, it should take place at this time.

Home Decorations

One of the best parts about Valentine's Day is all of the decorations that you can line the house with. There are many ways in which you can decorate for this holiday. Of course, the colors of the day include reds, pinks, white and other similar tones. You can even make many these from the kid's construction box. Here are any ideas to help get you started.

The Bulletin Board

Need to decorate a bulletin board? Fill it with flowers and hearts in the color scheme mentioned. Make sure to put a fun border around it and possibly put hearts of all shapes and sizes throughout it. Include any pictures of family members of the students in a class for a great look. You can also ad a fun saying or slogan to it. Make it something quirky like "Be My Valentine" or make it religious such as "God Is Love. " In the background do something unique. For the backing, go with a tablecloth in the color scheme, a pink piece of paper or otherwise interesting forms.

Candles

A great way to make a room or home look beautiful for the holiday is through the use of candles. Often, you may have any extra from Xmas to use. Get candle holders or use rings of silk flowers and greenery. Look for the right scent for the candles too if you would like. Make sure they are pink, white or red.

Get Xmas Out

Did you just put away everything for Christmas? Think about using such things as pearl garlands, beautifully placed on a tabletop or the candle and floral displays too. In the center of the tablecloths, add a gathering of pillar candles, surround them with lace trim, pearls and rose petals. Perhaps you can even decorate them with glitter or other sparking elements. Use a red and pink potpourri to make the smell of the home wonderful.

Foods

There are a number of foods that you can make to celebrate the day too. Heart shaped cookies can be frosted in pinks and reds and then use other colors for sprinkles on them. Place on a heart shaped tray. Chocolate is a very appropriate option and can be purchased or made in heart shapes. Use crystal dishes or plain white china for your treats. For the kids, get out paper cups filled with candy hearts, mini marshmallows and chocolate chips. For the grown ups, you can think about chocolate mousse and whipped cream.

All of these things can make an ordinary Valentine's Day much more enjoyable. You'll find wonderful ways to decorate for this holiday just by looking around your home. If you want, make any homemade decorations with the kids and enjoy the time together too.

Acrylic paint comes in a tube, just like oil paint. However, since acrylic paint is water-based meaning it dissolves in water instead of oil-based meaning you need to dissolve it in oil or turpentine, it is much easier to clean up after. You can soak your brushes and clean your hands in plain tap water, instead of smelly and flammable chemicals.

Another advantage to acrylic paint is that it dries much faster than oil paint mostly overnight. If you're working on a painting that needs to be done on time, that's important. Acrylic paint was developed as a water-based alternative to traditional oil paints.
Acrylic paints can be diluted with water, but become water-resistant when dry. Depending on how much the paint is diluted with water, the finished painting can resemble a watercolor or an oil painting.

Acrylic paint is a fast-drying paint containing pigment suspended in an acrylic polymer resin. Different from oil painting as watercolor is different from oil painting. There are techniques, which are available only to acrylic painters, and there are also restrictions, which are unique to acrylic painting.

Acrylic paints can achieve an oil-paint-like effect, and do so in much less time. Applied to look like oil paints, acrylics are somewhat limited due to the superior color range of oil paints, and the fact that acrylic dry to a shiny, smooth.

Acrylics paints are sometimes used in place of watercolors because acrylics dry closer to the desired color slightly darker, usually, while watercolors dry lighter and commonly unpredictably, especially for beginning artists.

Home Interior

There is a big question that you must consider when selling your home. How to best showcase the distinct qualities of your home and create a warm and inviting environment that will impress even the most critical buyer. Staging is a process that should be considered on a room to room basis. No two rooms have the same features, its quite possible to find something to highlight in mostly all room in your home. Is there a real "conversation piece" or element of the rooms that stands out to you? If so, roll with it and you should be able to come up with something very special.

Good things to do when preparing to stage your home are really the basics, cleaning out any clutter, ensuring that the house is sparkling clean and that there is a feeling of comfort, but not one that is too personal. This is why it's a good idea to remove overly personal knickknacks and items. The idea is that people feel as comfortable in your home as possible and at the same time be able to picture their belongings in the space.

A properly staged home will invite viewers in, and the properly highlighted aspects of the home will keep them interested and wanting to explore more of what your home has to offer. Pleasing smells are a big feature for many people. Comforting aromas such as cinnamon or the champion "fresh baked chocolate chip cookies" are great things to catch people's attention. Just remember, if you have cookie smell, buyers will need cookies to go with it!

Home Decorations

Christmas is a wonderful time for everyone, and decorating your house can enhance that joy, this might be something small like a table display or you could decorate your whole house inside and out. Christmas decorations have been around a lot longer than Christmas it's self, as pagans were doing it for over two centuries.

The Christmas Table.

You can do a lot to your dinner table without spending too much money, get into the woods and find some fir cones, some gold spray paint along with some fake snow and you've a centre piece to grace any table on the special day and for a long time after. Tinsel with holly leaves and mistletoe makes a natural and cheap adornment and is a very old Celtic symbol of fertility.

A Christmas Tree.

Christmas trees have been brought into our houses for years, probably it was the Germans who started it, but now everyone has a tree for Christmas. A real tree is beautiful, but could make a mess of needles on your floor if it has not been treated with chemicals. If you want a real tree get one with roots, you can keep it alive and then re-plant it in the new year and it should not make a mess, or get a fake tree, these can look realistic but you won't fool anyone, they are not real but will look beautiful every year when you pull it out of the cupboard.

Originally candles were used to light Christmas trees, this proved very dangerous, so now electric lights that flash and play Christmas carols are a safer option. Some people go over the top with tree decorations, keep it simple, tinsel, balls, stars and of course a fairy or an angel on the top to finish it all off.

Inside The House.

Coloured paper, silver tinsel and fake snow around the house will bring a festive feel to your home, snow on the windows, holly above the doors and you must have mistletoe to get those Christmas kisses from your guests. House decorations, like your tree should be subtle, Christmas is a happy time of the year and a time to relax with the family in a calm joyous atmosphere.

Outside The House.

A wreath of holly on the door was all that people used to show at Christmas, now people have father Christmases climbing up their roofs, light shows and carols played from loudspeakers. Fake snow on all the windows is nice, but covering your house in it is probably going too far. So do what pleases you (and your neighbours), but have a merry Christmas and a happy new year.

Home Paint

Buying a home is a big investment. You should use a checklist when sizing up potential homes. In this article, we cover a home buying checklist for paint and stucco.

Paint and Stucco

The exterior of a home typically makes the biggest impression when you first view a potential buying opportunity. Many homebuyers, however, often make the mistake of looking at color schemes as the principal issue. In truth, a close review of the exterior of the prospective home can tell you a lot about the quality of the structure.

A person selling a home is not stupid. Before putting a home on the market, they are going to take steps to spiff it out to raise buyer interest and the rate you are willing to pay. There is nothing devious about such conduct. It is natural to want to put your best foot forward and a person selling a home is not going to act differently. This is why you want to take a close look at the exterior paint and stucco on a home.

1. The first thing to look for is peeling or flaking of paint on the exterior walls. If you see this in an obvious place on a wall, run for the hills because the house needs a total repaint. Typically, you are not going to find such obvious problems. Instead, you need to poke around behind bushes, up under roof overhangs and in nooks and crannies. If you find problems of this sort, it tends to mean the paint job on the home was not applied correctly. Once these problems start occurring, you can count on them getting worse over time.

2. The second thing to look for is stains around perforations in the paint. For instance, look for an area where bolts or nails penetrate a painted surface. If you see rust around the hole, you may be seeing an indication of poor maintenance. Even worse, you may be seeing an indication of a water drainage problem. Investigate such occurrences very carefully.

3. With stucco homes, you are typically going to find some cracking do to earth movement and temperature changes. As long as these areas are relatively small, you should not have problems patching them for a nominal price. The bigger problem, however, is if you find stains or soft spots on the bottom section of a stucco wall. This can mean there are problems with the drainage screen behind the stucco wall and water is not getting out. If water is not getting out, the stucco will continue to degrade and you may have a mold problem at some point. Both situations can be very expensive to fix.

When checking out perspective home buying opportunities, the exterior of the home should be looked at very closely. In this case, the merits of the home all come down to the details.

Brushapers

brush coverBrushaper was developed to give painters a paint brush cover that protects, dries, and shapes your brush between uses. As a painter, you know that your paint brush is your most valuable tool. It’s your money maker. Taking good care of it is as important as putting gas in your car.

To extend the life of your paint brush, it’s important to take proper care of your brushes.
Wet brushes wear more quickly because moisture causes bristles to fan out. Without a proper cover, your paint brush can get damaged when thrown around in your toolbox.
brush coverCardboard covers that come with the paint brush don’t adequately protect your brush. They become soggy, easily fall apart and even grow mold.
Plastic covers trap in moisture causing bristles to fray. Your brush gets easily damaged being tossed around in one-size-fits-all models.
Brushaper is a patented paint brush cover made in the U.S.A.

Brushaper is specifically engineered to fit your paint brush tightly. Using stretchable moisture-wicking material, it protects the bristles from being damaged, helps your brush maintain its shape, and quickly dries your brush so you can start each day with a quality brush, ready to use.

Using Brushaper will extend the life of your brush and save you both time and money.

Why Grey Wins for Interior Painting

Interior Painting Business Dishes on a Surprisingly Diverse Colour Palette

White, ivory, beige, brown, and grey—what do these colours have in common? They’re all considered neutral colours when it comes to interior painting. However, many people shy away from grey because they either think it’s too boring, or think it will make their house look too dark inside. This couldn’t be further from the truth! Grey is versatile, matches every colour in your house, and can make other colours pop in a way that no other neutral can. Any interior painting business will tell you grey is a one of the best choices for any room in your home.

Making Bright Colours Even Brighter

Grey isn’t usually anyone’s favourite colour. Most people will say theirs is red, purple, blue, pink, or any other bright or fun colour. Because of this, many people want to paint their homes with these bright colours, but dark, bright, or overly vibrant colours are usually very overwhelming in the home—something that is often not discovered until the paint is already on the walls! If you like bright colours, consider restricting them to accents and decorative elements. Grey walls will make them pop in a way white or beige walls cannot. You an also paint an accent wall in another colour and paint the other three walls the shade of grey that best complements it.

The Hidden Depths of Grey

Grey comes in a lot of shades, ranging from very light to almost black, many with deep undertones that suggest complex colours hiding just beneath the surface. If you want to accent a room with yellow, a medium to darker shade of grey will match yellow perfectly. If you like purple, choose a lighter shade of grey when painting your home’s interior walls. Blue can match with either dark or light grey, but you may want to paint stripes of the two colours side by side on the wall to see how they will look together first. Speaking of which…

Try It out First

Any interior painting business will tell you that it is a good idea to put your painting ideas to the test before committing to a colour. If you hire an interior painting business to paint for you, they will help you with this. If you want to paint a couple rooms in your house yourself, when you go to the paint store, ask them for an eight-ounce sample can of the colour you want. Some stores will charge a nominal fee for these or give them to you for free. Paint the colours side by side on one wall and step back to look at it. There are some websites and smart phone apps that will help with this as well.

Grey is far from boring. If you’re still not convinced, try it for yourself—we dare you not to fall in love with this unexpectedly beautiful interior painting palette.
